Monday August 20th, 2007 Chef Mario Batali and his partner/winemaker Joe Bastianich opened B&B Ristorante at The Venetian a few months ago and, according to their Web site are featuring the duo’s “acclaimed blend of exquisite Italian food and casual elegance that captures the soul of an Italian grandmother dancing the tango with pop rock hipsters.”
The dimly lit dining room is surprisingly small with only about 80 to100 seats and features warm, creamy walls, Italian marble, dark maplewood and lush leather banquet tables. The cozy, yet bustling room is reminiscent of intimate supper clubs of another era, though contemporary alternative rock fills the air more or less blaring. This was unbearable at times.
