EAST

AMERICAN

Bob’s All Family Restaurant — 761 Nevada Way, 702-294-2627, 6:45 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 6:45 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday. This place is known for its pancakes, which are served through lunch. Flavors include cranberry, pumpkin, banana, blueberry and chocolate chip. For lunch there are the usual suspects, salads, wraps, soups and sandwiches. Cost is $5 to $10.

Firehouse Subs — 9555 S. Eastern Ave., Suite No. 130, 702-893-3473, 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. There is a lot of red in this small sandwich eatery on the east side. From behind the counter the staff of five to seven chant: “Welcome to Firehouse,” every time someone enters the door. The subs are beefy: Meatball, New York Steamer, Italian, Firehouse Hero, Engine Company, Engineer. The menu also includes salads, cold subs, including tuna salad and chili. There is also a kid’s menu with sandwiches priced at $3.49 each. Combo meals average about $7 each. Accepts all credit cards.

ASIAN

Koto Japanese Restaurant — 9400 S. Eastern Ave., No. 103, 702-221-1600, noon to 9:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Saturday. Closed on Sunday. This small sushi shop is known for its All You Can Eat Sushi menu that costs $24.99 and features more than 75 items. The seafood is fresh and prepared by experienced Japanese chefs. Specialty items include the gindara, miso-flavored black cod; fried gyoza, pork and shrimp pot stickers; and beef tataki, sashimi-style with ponzu sauce. The sushi bar offers salmon, tuna, sea eel, octopus, yellowtail and other exotic choices. The menu also includes tempura, rice bowl dishes, salads, noodles and combination box dinners. Most entrees range from $8 to $17.

Shabu-Shabu Paradise — 1716 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway, 702-385-4567, 11 a.m. to midnight, daily. The Japanese restaurant is named after its cooking style. With their chopsticks patrons swish meat, fish and vegetables in a pot of boiling broth that is seasoned with kelp. The cooked food is dipped into a variety of sauces, including ponzu and sesame seed. The eatery features Kobe beef and an extensive sake list. Dinner ranges from $12 to $26. Lunch specials with a free beer or soft drink runs $10 to $18 until 4 p.m. daily.

ITALIAN

Bootlegger Bistro — 7700 Las Vegas Blvd. South, 702-736-4939, 24 hours daily. This is a true slice of Las Vegas history and a hang out for Strip performers such as jazz singer Clint Holmes and others. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served 24 hours a day. Family members still work in the kitchen preparing the spaghetti meat sauce the restaurant has been known for decades. There is a children’s menu and early bird and graveyard specials. MEXICAN

Guadalajara Bar & Grille — Boulder Station, 4111 Boulder Highway, 702-432-7559, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m.-11 p.m., Friday and Saturday. This colorful, traditional Mexican eatery is easy on the wallet and zesty on the taste buds. The South-of-the-Border restaurant serves up traditional Southwestern fare and features a fresh mild salsa bar. The $8 fajita special is served daily. Entrees are $8 to $12. Take out is available. Dress is casual. All credit cards are accepted.

STEAK HOUSE

Hank’s Fine Steaks & Martinis — Green Valley Ranch, 2300 Paseo Verde Parkway, 702-617-7515, 5 to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and 5 to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday. The menu is hearty, yet gourmet, and includes aged, corn-fed prime beef, fresh seafood, chicken, veal, lamb and pork. The bar serves more than 30 different martinis and stocks 2,200 bottles of wine. The chophouse just won the AAA Four Diamond Award. The 176-seat steak house features three dining rooms, a wrap-around marble piano bar, sleek cocktail bar with an inner-lit translucent onyx surface and sparkling Czech Republic handcrafted crystal chandeliers. Salt Lick BBQ — Santa Fe Station, 4949 N. Rancho Drive, 702-515-4380, 4 to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday; 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday. This Texas-based restaurant is way laid back and offers several Lone Star State microbrews and bourbons. The eatery serves family style dinners and all-you-can-eat menus for $16.99 per person. It was founded in 1967 and is famous for its ribs, brisket, pulled pork and cobbler. Entrees range from $12 to $24. Take out is available All credit cards are accepted. Casual dress.

The eatery opens at 11:30 every morning and serves traditional dishes until 3 a.m. The menu includes sweet and sour shrimp, Kung Po chicken and Chang’s Crispy Fried Noodles With Seafood. Most entrees range from $10 to $20. Take out is available. Dress is casual. All credit cards are accepted.

Hue Thai Asian Cuisine — 5115 Spring Mountain Road, No. 223, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, 702-943-8872. This authentic Eurasian bistro offers the French and Vietnamese flavors. It’s famous for its French Sandwiches. A favorite is the rice cakes, a thin rice pancake topped with dried scallops. The exotic menu is a bit hard to navigate, but wait staff is very helpful and the jasmine tea is light and refreshing and free. The eatery is on the second floor of Pacific Plaza. There are family menus after 4 p.m. that range from $18.99 for two people to $58.50 for six people. Entrée prices range from $7 to $25. Sandwiches are $3 to $7. Takes Visa and Mastercard.

ITALIAN

Terra Rossa — Red Rock Casino, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd., 702-797-7777, 702-797-7530, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The eatery offers homemade pastas, wood-fired pizzas, fresh fish and an extensive antipasto table. The dedicated wine room hosts a collection of 1,500 bottles of Italian and California wines. This authentic Italian eatery made national news last year when Heather West, winner of FOX's TV reality series "Hell's Kitchen," took over as senior chef last year. Entrees range $16 to $46. All credit cards accepted. Casual dress.

MEXICAN

Ricardo’s Mexican Restaurant — 4930 W. Flamingo Road at Decatur Boulevard, 702-227-9100. Dining room is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The bar, which offers video poker, serves the full menu until 6 a.m., but patrons must be at least 21 years old. The traditional Mexican eatery offers all the favorites, ice-cold margaritas, lobster tacos, fajitas, chile verde, enchiladas and burritos. There are also chicken, steak, pork and fresh seafood dishes. There is a simple breakfast menu that features huevos rancheros, huevos con chorizo and other favorites. Combination plates are varied and extensive. Most entrees range from $10 to $15. There are group menus that offer meals featuring a variety of choices. Prices range from $16.25 to $29.50. STEAK HOUSE

Blue Agave Steakhouse — Fiesta Rancho, 2400 N. Rancho Drive, 702-638-3751, 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 4 to 11 p.m., Friday. This traditional steakhouse serves up decent chops, chicken, seafood and fine wines The eatery features a $25 four-course special that includes an entrée, soup or salad and dessert. Entrees are $20 to 30. All credit cards are accepted. Casual dress.

THE STRIP

AMERICAN

Spago — The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, 3500 Las Vegas Blvd. South, 702-369-6300. Café is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday. Dining room is open 5:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday and Saturday. Acclaimed California Chef Wolfgang Puck sparked the Las Vegas culinary revolution more than 15 years ago in this eatery that still offers contemporary American cuisine. Executive Chef Eric Klein creates a daily-changing menu, featuring specialty dishes such as the Roasted Beet and Goat Cheese Napoleon; Handmade Sweet Corn Agnolotti; and USDA Prime Nebraska Corn Fed Côte de Boeuf. The indoor patio café offers a variety of signature pizzas, salads, sandwiches and entrees. There is an extensive wine and cocktail list.

ASIAN

TAO Asian Bistro — The Venetian, 3377 Las Vegas Blvd. South, 702-388-8338, 5 p.m. to midnight, Sunday through Thursday and 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., Friday and Saturday. This Strip hot spot, with its large upstairs nightclubs, is a celebrity magnet. Specializing in Hong Kong Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisines, Chef Sam Hazen's creations include Kobe beef and traditional Peking Duck. The décor includes velvets and silks, waterfalls, ancient woods and stones, and a hand-carved 20-foot-tall Buddha above an infinity pool complete with Japanese carp.

Italian

Aromi d' Italia — Planet Hollywood, 3667 S. Las Vegas Blvd., 702-696-0181, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday-Thursday and 8 a.m. to midnight, Friday and Saturday. The café offers a wide variety of paninis, pizza, soups and salads. But what it is most known for is its gourmet gelatos and Italian coffees. Items are $5 to $15.

Maggiano’s Little Italy — Fashion Show Mall, 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South, 702-732-2550, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. The 325-seat restaurant provides views of the Las Vegas Strip and traditional family style Italian fare with large portions. The chicken and spinach manicotti, gnocchi with tomato vodka sauce and Mom’s Lasagna are favorites. The kid’s menu offers bowtie pasta, pizza and cheese ravioli. There are rooms available for banquets and events. There is also a carryout menu. Best way to get there is the back way off Industrial/Dean Martin Drive.

FRENCH

Daniel Boulud Brasserie — Wynn Las Vegas, 3131 Las Vegas Blvd. South, 702-248-3463. Dinner is served 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., nightly. The restaurant’s celebrity namesake offers French bistro fare. Signature dishes include bacon-crusted pork chops, filet and frites and The Original NY DB Burger, a $32, 9-ounce sirloin burger stuffed with braised short ribs, foie gras and black truffle, served on a Parmesan bun with French fries. For $48 per person there is a prix fixe, three-course meal, which includes the unusual burger, that’s available before 7 p.m. Most entrees range from $15 to $40.

STEAK HOUSE

Prime Steakhouse — The Bellagio, 3600 S. Las Vegas Blvd., 877-234-6358, 5 to 10 p.m. Famed Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten has built a menu dressed with traditional chop house fare with a sophisticated twist. Dishes include filet mignon, served with teardrop tomato and pea shoots sauté; Porterhouse, served with roasted Jerusalem artichoke and veal chops served with kumquat-pineapple chutney with caramelized cauliflower. The wine cellar is deep with great California reds and first-growth Bordeaux. The 170-seat gourmet restaurant is near the hotel’s famous fountains and offers patio seating. Entrees range from $25 to $48. Jackets are preferred.
